SUBMISSION RULES! PLEASE READ!!!!

Hey everyone, this is notanirishgiinger writing!

Here are the rules and guidelines to submissions please follow them to the best of your ability and always double check that you're submitting to the right folder! ;w; also I'm super open to suggestions and would totally love to hear if anyone had any super good ones! Feel free to note me if you do!~

Digital Art4: Only for DIGITAL media, or any mixed media if mainly done digitally. This also includes any paintings that were done on PhotoShop, Easy Painttool SAI, GIMP, or any other digital painting program. Do NOT submit any traditional art, crafts, or writings into this folder. Please.

Traditional Art4: Only for TRADITIONAL media, or any mixed media if mainly done traditionally. This does NOT include any paintings done on any digital painting program. Just because they're "paintings" doesn't mean they are traditional art. However, you CAN submit pencil drawings, paintings done with PAINT (like watercolors, acrylics, and oils), pastels, colored pencil drawings, marker drawings, and charcoal pieces. DO NOT submit any writings, crafts, or digital pieces into this folder. Please.

AI Art: Is for art created and generated through AI. If your work is ultimately AI that was then touched up by hand, it goes in this folder! Standard digital art that was enhanced by AI can either go in here or in Digital Art4 depending on how much AI was used in its production. This is completely based upon your own appraisal of your art.

Writings: Are for poems, short stories, ongoing novels, etc. Don't put your writings in any other folder but THIS ONE! And, NOTHING ELSE goes into this folder. Please.

Photomanipulations: This folder is for those who create images by using stock or their own photos and editing them usually using photoshop! Very snazzy and popular enough that it deserved it's own folder!

Costumes and Crafts: This seems to be the most confusing folder. This folder isn't just for costumes, please take note of this. If you created a troll or fairy with clay, then IT BELONGS IN THIS FOLDER. Please, if you submit ceramics, claywork, jewelry, costumes, props, or anything else of the sort, put it in this folder. They do not belong in Traditional Art, no matter how you look at it.

:bulletblue:Nudity is accepted. However, do not submit anything pornographic, please If there is work submitted that I feel is too raunchy for younger viewers I will decline it..:bulletblue:
:bulletblack:Sexual themes are also accepted. (Ie. a sultry vampire seducing their next meal) Just please don't not submit anything pornographic or fetish art as there are many younger members. There is a limit, I hope you all will judge what is and isn't appropriate before submitting, as usual if there is something too inappropriate I will decline the submission:bulletblack:
:bulletblack:If you submit fanwork, please make sure that it is fantasy-related and more than just the character standing there.Be creative!:bulletblack:
:bulletblue:Sci-fi is also accepted.:bulletblue:
:bulletblack: Please try to avoid submitting very faint sketches or very unfinished looking work in general please ;w; If the image you are submitting is too blurry or too sloppy it will be declined, it's important to show your work well and neatly! :bulletblack:

YOUR GROUP ADMINS!

Hello, I'm notanirishgiinger, your lovely founder! Technically I am not the original founder, but considering that insanecharizard has not been active on deviantArt in over 12 years, it is safe to say that I've held this position the longest. We started this group 14 years ago when we were just little babies in the art world ourselves - taking beginner art classes in high school because we were 13-15 at the time of this group's creation. Now I am an adult, obviously; I'm in my late 20s, married, and a homeowner while still trying to slowly whittle away at completing my undergraduate degree. While my degree is in fine arts (ceramics), I intend on keeping art as primarily a hobby for the rest of my life, which is honestly a big reason why I felt compelled to come back here after being inactive for 10 years to actually continue modding this group.

I love DND and other tabletop RPGs (especially ones that use PbtA), attending Renaissance festivals, and various anime that tend to have a more fantasy or sci-fi element to them (such as One Piece, Trigun and Demon Slayer).

I love this group and I am so grateful for the members who have made these last 14 years of it so wonderful. Thank you all so much for being so patient with me in this last decade! <3

INTO THE DARKNESSHelena, the little Danish girl ran playfully through the forest, on the outskirts of her village. It was late Autumn in the Scandinavian woodlands, and already, the leaves had changed their colours, and now littered the ground. It was around this time when the first snowflakes began to fall, and little Helena wanted to be outside to enjoy the last of the autumn breeze, before hibernating herself in her family’s hut for the long winter months ahead. Her mother however, had warned her not to stray too far into the forest, or she would lose her way, and something dark would drag her back into it’s hole. But as with most children, Helena did not heed her mother’s warning, and went further and further into the woods. Helena continued running past the white-barked trees, and continued on until she stopped from being out of breathe. Once Helena had caught up with her breathing, a chilling dread washed over her. The forest was dark and silent. There were no birds singing, nor insects chirping, and the trees were haunting and unfamiliar. Their branches were all twisted and gnarled, and looked more like skeleton hands, rather than tree branches. The greyish-white sky that made the day seem bright was now as dark as a summer storm, with no sunlight to be seen anywhere in the sky. This was not a good place to be. Helena was afraid. She knew that she had gone too far away from home, and she needed to leave. -Now. Just as she took a step back, she jumped at the sound of loose rocks tumbling down a nearby rocky slope off to her right, followed by the sound of hungry growls. There was a beast on the prowl. Helena turned and ran. Steaming breathe fumed from her mouth in the cold late Autumn air, like a dragon spewing fire, as she ran back the way she came. On and on into the forest she raced, trying to retrace her steps back to the safety of her village. Helena took a glance over her shoulder at the sound of heavy feet pounding the ground behind her. Something was chasing her. Helena ran as fast as she could go, propelling her legs harder and harder with every stride. Faster and faster Helena went, until she could see the dim torch-lights of the village just beyond the edge of the trees. Just as the hope of returning home safe to her family had begun to fill her heart, and inhuman scream rang through the forest and Helena felt a great four-fingered clawed hand slam into her back, pinning her to the ground. Helena scrambled to escape, but to no avail, as the creature took hold of her ankle and dragged her back into the dark forest, while the defenceless child let out one last scream. It was the name of her brother, “Hakkon!” --------From inside the walls of his family’s hut, Hakkon’s ears caught the sound of the distant cry of his little sister calling his name. Without wasting a second, Hakkon armed himself with sword, axe, and spear, and set out to find his sister. Hakkon was a bold 26 years of age, already a battle-hardened warrior of the Vikings, standing at an impressive 6’5ft and armed with strong arms and broad shoulders. Hakkon rushed through the gates and started towards the forest with a lit torch in one hand, and his boar spear in the other. Hakkon slowed his pace as soon as he reached the tree-line, as he could make out the foot-marks in the snow. Upon further inspection, she could easily see that they were the tracks of his sister, Helena, and that she was running away from something, and was dragged back into the forest. Something had taken his sister back to it’s lair. One of the Darkspawn. Hakkon took up the trail, following the huge, four-toed footprints of the creature, born of darkness, that now had his helpless sister in it’s grasp. Hakkon knew well of these hellish creatures, -not just from what his mother had told him, but also from the tales from the warriors of his clan who have fought and slain them, bringing back their severed heads to mount on the wall of the Great Hall. Even from age twenty, Hakkon already had songs sung of his glories as a raider and shield-brother to the Jarl. Now he was off to slay the most terrifying enemy of all, one that the Danes feared even more than the great dragons that dwelled in the mountains. The sky grew darker with the approaching night as Hakkon continued the hunt for his sister, and the monster who abducted her. His torch guided his way as his gaze was fixed on the trail of monster tracks before him. He continued on further and further until he came to a stop. He had come to the same spot where his sister, Helena had been before. Trees with gnarled, skeleton-like limbs, with a dead silence harbouring over the forest. The Monster’s tracks had led Hakkon to cove, with cliffs all around, and a murky pond in the centre. Hakkon lifted his torch to see into the distance where the monster tracks trailed off. They had descended into the cove, and as Hakkon followed, he could see from a short distance, with the aid of the torch-light, that the trail led to the opening of a cave, hidden among the entangled roots of a dead Oak Tree. Hakkon had found the monster’s lair. ------ Deep into the tunnels, Hakkon descended. The smell of dead flesh was strong, but this phased Hakkon not. He continued on, down into the dark, taking care where he put his feet, for he has wandered into the monster’s den, where few had dared to tread, and the slightest noise would alert the Darkspawn to his presence, and he would then surely face his own death. The tunnels were pitch black, with Hakkon’s torch being the only source of light, and the only sounds were the echoes of drops from the stalactites on the ceiling of the cave. Hakkon had his senses at full height, his spear held firm in his hand, ready for combat at the slightest sound. Even as armed as he was, with steel and flame, Hakkon was uneasy within the caves beneath the Earth. For underground was where dark things lived. Creatures that hide from the daylight, only to emerge from their holes in the ground at night to hunt Men, women, and children. Slowly, Hakkon moved down the tunnel, his breathe steady, and his eyes looking around for any signs of life, be it his sister, or the beast. After what seemed like an eternity of trekking through the labyrinth of tunnels, Hakkon came into a large cavern. There, throughout the cave chamber, lay scattered the remains of Darkspawn victims. The bones of men and beasts, some of them picked clean, while some were still half-eaten corpses. Suddenly, the eerie silence of the cave was broken by a familiar sound. Soft crying. Hakkon’s ears perked up. It was his sister, Helena. She was still alive! Despite the relief and joy that Hakkon felt in his heart, she refrained from rushing down the tunnel. He retained his caution, and began down the next tunnel over. Hakkon followed the sound of his sister’s crying, with the sound getting louder the farther down he went. Hakkon’s heart began to beat faster, as he continued to breathe slowly. He held out his torch in front of him, lighting his way. For some time, the only path before him was more and more tunnels, but then finally, after turning after a bend in the wall, Hakkon found himself in yet another cavern. Here was where the crying was the most clear to hear, though it was still dark. Hakkon entered the chamber, and quietly began to call for his sister, holding out his torch, and his spear at the ready. Slowly. Cautiously, he searched, looking around the cave, still calling for Helena. Hakkon could hear his sister clear as day. She was here somewhere. Then, Hakkon turned at the faint sound of his sister calling to him. There, in a narrow cleft in the cave wall, was Helena. Crying and shaking with terror. Overwhelmed with relief, Hakkon took a step towards Helena, when he suddenly stopped, his spear poised to strike. Hakkon’s torch has caught the light of two glowing yellow eyes, staring at him from the dark, just to the right from where Helena was hiding. Those eyes were those of the Darkspawn. The beast snarled, as streams of drool, reflecting from the torch splattered onto the cave floor. The creature was crouched on a ledge like a cat, his huge eyes glaring at the Man creature that had trespassed into his den. Hakkon shouted his challenge,“COME OUT, DEVIL! COME OUT AND FACE ME!” Slowly, the creature descended from his perch on pale, lank limbs, each armed with four digits equipped with razor sharp claws. The creatures stepped forward, revealing it’s full body eliminated by the flickering light of the torch. The monster looked like a man mixed with a frog, with a dome-shaped head, with it’s nostrils rested on the very tip of it’s snout, huge glowing, bug-like eyes, and a hideous mouth stretching from cheek to cheek, adorned with a mess of misshapen, jagged teeth. The sight was so grotesque that Hakkon felt a chill crawl up his spine. The creature took another step forward, and Hakkon thrust his spear into the monster’s chest. The shining spear-head sank deep into the Darkspawn’s pale green flesh and it screamed inhumanly in agony, and with one swing of it’s long arm, it snapped the spear shaft, rendering Hakkon’s long weapon useless, and he tossed it aside. The Spawn of Darkness writhed as it tore the spear head from his chest, blood spewing from the gaping wound. The creature shrieked in a fury as Hakkon drew his axe. The monster rushed forward, and Hakkon lashed out his torch in the monster’s face, sending it reeling back. Seeing the monster dazed from the burning light of the torch, Hakkon charged with a battle-cry, axe held over his head. Just before he could bring the axe down on the creature’s head, Hakkon was caught by the swinging arm of the monster, flinging him back onto the cave floor, axe and torch from his hands. The torch fell into a pool of cave water, extinguishing Hakkon’s only source of light in the darkness. Or at least that’s what the monster thought. The creature dashed forward at Hakkon with his talons out. Hearing the monster closing in on him in the dark, Hakkon jumped to his feet, and just at the Darkspawn closed in on him, Hakkon drew his blade, slashing the beast’s abdomen. The creature reeled back in pain, clasping his stomach as dark blood leaked between his fingers. The creature glared up at Hakkon in a rage, but was then taken back in fear at the sight of his foe’s weapon. Clutched in Hakkon’s hand was a glowing broadsword of Giant’s Steel, forged by the great Giant Smiths of the First Age, before the Great Flood ravaged the world. Giant’s Steel was the metal that the Darkspawn feared more than any other, for it has been used to kill their kind by warriors for Millennia. With his blade shining sunlight-gold, and his eyes blazing red, Hakkon roared and charged at the monster cowering before him. The creature only stumbled back in fear. He raised his hands over his face, as if to plead for mercy, only for his arms to be severed between elbow and wrist. Helena watched in awe from her hiding place, as her heroic brother hacked the Darkspawn to pieces, as it squirmed and squealed in agony. Blood and gore covered Hakkon’s face and armor as he continued slashing at the now-limp and dismembered body of the Darkspawn. Finally, Hakkon relented from the butchering of his enemy. The warrior snorted with triumph, and looked back at his sister, now crawling out of the crevice. Hakkon knelt down and held out his arms, still holding his glowing sword, to embrace his sister. Helena ran in her brother’s arms and cried in the embrace of his warm hug. “Hush now, my little sister,” Hakkon spoke softly,“The Nightmare has past. It’s time to go home.” --------- Helga: Mother of Hakkon and Helena, awaited anxiously by the gate, awaiting for her son to return home with his sister, but at the same time, fearing that she would never see either of them again. The night hours passed into the early hours of dawn, and still she waited. Just when she had given up on any hope of see her children again, she saw them, -Hakkon and Helena returning to the village. Helga ran through the gates to meet her children, tears streaming from her eyes, but the closer she approached, she slowed at the shocking sight of Hakkon clutching the severed and bloody head of a Darkspwan by it’s hair. Helga gasped. Hakkon greeted his mother with a warm smile, and Helena hugged her tight. “Mother,” Hakkon spoke proudly,“I have a new chapter of my saga for the poets to scribe, and the bards to sing. I have hunted and slain the Darkspawn that abducted Helena, with the Giant’s Blade that my father passed to me, and his before him.” “Hakkon, my son. You are a hero today. Tales of your heroics will live on through the countless ages yet to be, and your saga will outlast Ragnarok itself! Come, let us drink and sing to your victory.” ------ The hall was alive with laughter and song. The Thanes toasted, the wenches danced, and the songs of Hakkon Dark’s-Bane were sung through the night to Dawn’s first light....
First Contact8:00 AM, Thursday – The Year: 2187 Zoe woke up at the sound of her space capsule opening with a hiss, as all around her, the other members of her crew woke up with groggy voices. Most of the crew were men, so it would always be the same conversation first thing in the morning. One guy was talking about how good he slept, another guy about how he was craving steak and eggs, and then another guy -much to Zoe’s disgust, talked about how he dreamed about anal with his girlfriend. -The usual macho shit. Zoe never said a word. She never really liked to talk much, especially around these kinds of guys. They were all huge-ass, ripped marines, and she was his 5’2ft 17-year old girl, who had the displeasure of getting wolf-whistled at by some of the more repulsive members of the crew. Why Hell, just the other day, one asshole snuck up behind her and groped her ass. Zoe didn’t want to be here. But as bad as this ship was, it’s nothing compared to what’s back on Earth. Earth was literally a Hell-Hole. It happened 30 years ago, 2157, some dickheaded leader thought it would be a good idea to start a full-out nuclear conflict. The fact that it only lasted a week would’ve been nice, if the whole fucking planet wasn’t destroyed. Ever since, the entire world was coated by radio-active clouds that blocked out the sun and thus began The Winter. Life was awful. There was no more farming to raise animals or crops for food, no more fresh water, and you couldn’t go anywhere without a re-breather. And Zoe was cursed with being born in a world without sunshine or laughter. It was around the year 2182, that the last remaining colonies began sending envoys into space for new worlds to colonize, and when Zoe turned 17, she volunteered to accompany the crew of the Pegasus. Sure it wasn’t very pleasant for her, but at least she was on a better planet. The Crew of the Pegasus first came upon this new world a week ago. A primitive world. -Dominated by forests of giant conifers, tree-ferns, and redwood trees. But even more fantastic were the creatures that inhabited this new world. For the first two days of being planet-side, it was uneventful. They were mostly spent setting up a perimeter where the Pegasus had landed, and Zoe, along with another scientist were sent out to catalogue the various plant an animal species and also to see if there were some of these things that were edible. The creatures struck Zoe’s curiosity. Most of them were reptiles, but unlike any that Zoe had read about in books back on Earth. And the sounds that echoed through the forest sounded almost like singing. Zoe could almost dance to the vocalizations, but her partner was standing next to her, so she wanted to avoid the embarrassment. Then, a sharp snap of a tree-branch from the undergrowth off to her right made Zoe jump. There was something moving in the trees. -Something big. Zoe stood there, frozen. Not daring to move or make a sound. Through the gaps in the vegetation, Zoe could see huge curved talons, attached to massive fore-limbs, rummaging through the foliage. Zoe could hear what sounded like the snorting of a boar, mixed with the growling of a grizzly bear. She slowly took a step back, and her heart stopped when she could no longer hear the guttural sound of the animal anymore. Zoe’s partner, standing behind her, whispered for Zoe not to move, as the leaves of the towering tree-ferns began to rustle, indicating that what was hiding in the trees was coming toward them. Zoe’s heart pounded rapidly, every second felt like an eternity, as she waited for the unseen entity to reveal itself. And then finally, it appeared. A reptilian head, mixed with that of a horse and an ostrich, attached to a long neck, slithered out from the undergrowth like a giant snake. The creature began to emit a guttural clicking sound as it revealed the rest of it’s body. Zoe was now looking up a massive creature that was like a cross between an ostrich and an ant-eater. It was covered with downy features, with a mane like a horse stretching from the top of it’s head all the way to the end of it’s tail. It’s fore-arms were huge, at least ten feet in length, and they were armed with huge claws that looked like they could shred through anything. Zoe was petrified with terror. The creature looked down at her with eagle-like eyes. It tilted it’s head sideways as it chirped sharply, before turning it’s head left at an unfamiliar sound off in the distance. It caught Zoe’s attention too, as she turned into the direction where the creature was looking. Then it came again. The sound of a horn blowing. The towering animal gave out a startled shriek before darting away, disappearing back into the forest. Zoe fell to her knees, breathing heavily. Her lab partner rushed to her side, giving her his tankard of water. “You realize what we just saw, right?”Zoe asked. “I realize..”Her partner said back,“But I never actually believe I’d see one.” There was no question about it. No doubt whatsoever. This was a world ruled by Dinosaurs. --- It was around 11 o’clock at night, and everyone else was in their capsules asleep. All, that is, except for Zoe. She was far too excited to sleep. She met a Dinosaur today. -A real, live Dinosaur! A Therizinosaurus, from what Zoe read in the books back on Earth. She remembered how fond she was of Dinosaurs, early in her youth. That’s when Zoe remembered her home back on Earth. Her family was one of the luckier kinds of people who lived in one of those communities, where they had their homes and shops around these underground oasis, totally untouched by the nuclear winter. That was about the only good thing Zoe remembered about her world. The rest of it was just the memory of a dead planet, devoid of sunshine and life. But here, on this planet, humanity could find a new home, and rebuild their civilization all over again. And this time: no motherfucking nukes. ----- Zoe sat at the island table, listening to the echoing calls of Dinosaurs in the night, as she sipped on her coffee. She looked out the window panel of the living area, and saw beautiful fireflies fluttering around outside the ship. Zoe had never seen anything so beautiful, or magical in her life. This new world was like a dream come to life. Zoe took another sip of her coffee, before she heard it. Another kind of sound. Not from a Dinosaur, but something else. She slowly got up from her stool and slowly walked over to the window, facing the edge of the forest around their camp. As she peered out into the darkness, and waited and listened for anything. -Anything that seemed out of the ordinary. She squinted, trying to adjust her eyes to the dark, but still, everything seemed normal. She finally brushed it off, and went back over to the island to finish her coffee, but right as she was sitting down, she heard it again. -As clear as day. A scream: a battle-cry. -From a human, almost like those jungle heroes that Zoe had seen in the old movies. Zoe froze in place for a moment before slowly turning her head towards the window again. Then she heard it again. The sound of human roaring from deep within the jungle. This time, Zoe knew what she heard was real. This was no trick of her imagination. She dumped out her coffee, and rushed to turn off the light to the living room. This made it much easier for Zoe to see outside. She stood motionless, peering outside. There was nothing. -Nothing in sight. At least nothing that looked human. She wanted to run back to the barracks so bad, but at the same time, she didn’t want to leave the beautiful scenery of the prehistoric night outside her ship. The night was enchanting. She wanted to stay. Eventually, all fear of whatever was out there had vanished. Zoe found a nice plush blanket on the top of the sofa, and laid it out on the couch. Zoe began tucking herself in when she could hear the echoing calls of what sounded like the calls of whales, but deeper, and more guttural, hinting that there were larger Dinosaurs out there, but they were gentle giants. Zoe laid her head on a pillow, as she drifted off to sleep at the soft melody of the night Dinosaurs. --- 1 o’clock in the afternoon, and the crew of the Pegasus was out and about. The Marines stood guard at base camp, and the researchers were out cataloguing whatever liable resources they could find. Zoe was out by herself, taking samples of different plants, many of them completely new species, unlike any that existed on Earth millions of years ago. Zoe spotted a giant Jurassic Cycad in a small clearing, and rushed to analyze it. Zoe cut the stock a bit with her lazer knife, and watched curiously as sap began oozing from the gaping wound. Zoe took a sample, and was amazed to find that it was suitable enough to make syrup. She could have this stuff in her waffles. -Neat. Zoe’s joy was cut short at the ear-piercing sound of a predatory scream. She turned to see a red and black bipedal creature, the size of a Rhino, emerging from behind a tree. It had a massive head, with long dagger-like teeth, and a large horn on it’s snout. The creature stalked towards Zoe, as she began backing away, her heart pounding in her chest. She turned at the sound of another roar behind her, and two more creatures emerged from the surrounding forest, encircling Zoe like sharks. Saliva dripped from the creatures’ jaws, as they bared their long fangs with clicking snarls. Zoe kept backing away, until she could feel the hard surface of a tree-trunk press up against her back. She was trapped. There was nowhere to run. Hot tears began streaming from Zoe’s eyes as she stared hopelessly into the eyes of the three hungry carnivores. Zoe crouched down and covered her head, awaiting her death. Suddenly, a familiar sound rang through the forest, drawing the Dinosaurs’ attention up into the trees. Zoe looked up to the sound of the battle-cry she had heard the night before, and saw a blur of muscle descend from the canopy above, crashing into the dinosaur on the far right. The two masses rolled around on the forest floor, and Zoe watched with wide eyes as the unknown figure had gotten on top of the bipedal Dinosaur, stabbing it ferociously with what she swore was a knife. The Dinosaur gargled on it’s blood as the figure stood upright, revealing it’s true form. Zoe couldn’t believe here eyes. It was a man! But he was massive. He stood at at least 8 feet tall, with a muscle mass greater than that of any body-builder that Zoe had seen or heard of on Earth. His hair was a mass of braids and dreadlocks, and he was coated in a suit of armor that looked like it was fashioned from the hide and bones of a Dinosaur, or some other prehistoric reptile. And his face- Zoe couldn’t even see the man’s face. It was covered by a helmet, or mask, made from the skull of a creature with a head-shield and a single large horn in the centre of it’s face. The humanoid warrior banged his chest and roared a challenge to the two surviving Dinosaurs. The predators snarled back in response as they began to encircle their enemy. Zoe watched as the Dinosaur to the left bull-rushed, only for the warrior to evade, clasping the back of the animal’s neck with both hands and hurling him around twice before tossing it into the side of a tree, like it didn’t weigh anything. The amazing sight took Zoe’s breathe away. How could a man do that? The warrior took a weapon from his back; a great war-club, made from what appeared to be a large jaw-bone, and pointed it at the remaining Dinosaur, as if he were taunting it. The enraged animal snarled with fury, as it pawed the ground with it’s hind-limb like a bull. The animal charged, and the warrior lunged forward, and the two combatants crashed into each other with the Dinosaur landing flat on it’s back. The warrior pummelled the side of the Dinosaur’s head into the ground mercilessly with his war club. The giant man held nothing back, as he smashed the Theropod’s skull until there was nothing left of it be a mess of blood and brains. Even when the creature was dead, the warrior didn’t stop. He just kept smashed the splattered skull until his chest, arms, and mask were completely drenched in gore. It frightened Zoe. Finally, he stopped. The warrior took a few heavy breaths before looking up at Zoe. Zoe stared back at the warrior, completely speechless. The warrior then slowly began motioning his left hand towards his mask, and revealed his face. Zoe was awe-struck. The Man was beautiful. Though his had the sloping forehead and rigid eyebrows of some ape, he had the face of a 19-year old man. Clean-shaven and handsome. Zoe began to rise to her feet, never taking her eyes off the warrior. He stared back at her with bright, focused eyes, as if he had never seen a girl so beautiful. And to him, Zoe was indeed beautiful, as he was to Zoe. A blur of teeth and gaping jaws erupted from the undergrowth, catching the warrior from behind, it’s jaws snapping down on his shoulder. The animal shook violently, tearing into the warrior’s flesh as he roared in rage. The warrior smashed his fist into the Dinosaur’s nose to no effect. The Warrior glanced at Zoe, and charged at the tree behind her. He moved so fast that Zoe barley had time to dodge out of the way. The warrior slammed the Dinosaur’s back into the solid tree-trunk and there was a loud, sharp crunching of bone. The Dinosaur shrieked in agony as it let go of the warrior’s shoulder. The animal slumped to the ground as the warrior grabbed a hold of the Dinosaur’s tail. The carnivore tried desperately to keep it’s grip on the ground as the warrior hurled him around like a great flail. Zoe’s eyes followed the swinging mass of the dinosaur’s bulk. Five times, the warrior hurled him around before finally, hurling it over his shoulder and slamming the creature head-first onto the forest-floor. The warrior leapt on top of dinosaur’s back, clasping his massive arms around the animals’ neck in a bear-hug. Zoe continued to watch as the warrior strangled the dinosaur, as he strained to tighten his grip with all of his savage strength. The Dinosaur clawed helplessly at the warrior’s arms, but it might has well have been trying to scratch an itch off of him instead. Finally, there was a sharp crack, and the dinosaur’s breathing ceased. The Warrior released his grip on the Dinosaur as he let it’s head slump lifelessly to the ground. The Warrior rose to his feet and banged his chest with his fists as he roared in victory. The warrior turned to look at Zoe, who was staring with wide eyes and mouth agape. Then the great man, did something strange. He took out what looked like tweezers and yanked out two of the Dinosaur’s teeth. He walked over to Zoe and held out his massive hand. A tooth laid in his palm. At first Zoe was confused. Then the warrior motioned his hand forward. Then Zoe understood. He was giving it to her. Zoe took the warrior’s gift, and smiled at him. And he too, smiled back. The giant man then took the tooth he claimed for himself, and harnessed to a string that carried to teeth of different Dinosaurs. Zoe understood. This man was a hunter. And those teeth were his trophies. The warrior nodded at Zoe before placing his mask back over his face in darting off back into the forest. This place was far more than Zoe ever dreamed of. Not only has she seen Dinosaurs in real life, but she was rescued by a jungle hero. She regretted nothing now. Leaving Earth, being surrounded by a greasy crew, and coming here, was totally worth it.
The Daughter of DinosaursIn the days when Titans ruled the Earth, and Monsters ruled the seas, there was the fierce and primeval land of Dinova, where the Dinosaur was king, and Man was the Beast. And there was Shira, of the Cycanian People. Eight years old and adorned with golden-sun hair and midnight-blue eyes, born to the great Neanderthal chieftain; Rokkr, and a mother she had never known. Between the Great Fern Sea and the Conifer Barrens, she lived. Her people: the Cycanians, were a proud and hardy tribe, and hunting was their way of life. Shira marvelled at the hero hunters of her tribe, and dreamed of one day becoming a strong and fearless warrior like them. Shira would often spend her time around the best hunters of the tribe, and revel in their prized kills and the stories they brought back with them, of the beasts they’ve hunted and the places they’ve seen. But her favourite stories came from her father. Shira’s father would tell her stories of an ancient race of warriors who came to their land from across the sea, thousands of years ago. These warriors heralded from the lost continent of Saurischia; and ancient empire ruled over by warriors who lived alongside Dinosaurs, while the less-advanced hominids of Dinova remained at war with Dinosaurs for centuries, under the Imperialistic rule of the Dinosaur Demi-God, Cartora Rex. Then, the greatest of the Saurischians: Sauron the Warrior, rallied his people, and led a conquest across the land, uniting Men and Dinosaurs under his banner, and together, they overthrew Cartora Rex, and built the greatest Empire of all time, with Sauron the Warrior ruling as the first emperor. But the days of peace and unity were shattered. The Saurischian Empire was divided between two half-brothers, who each wanted to rule the empire for himself, and the realm fell into chaos. Sensing the weakness of the Empire, a young Dinosaur rose up in revolt, and incited a Dinosaur Rebellion, bringing the once great Empire to it’s knees. Now the line of Sauron is broken, and the Saurischians are scattered and divided across the wilderness, and the races of men and Dinosaurs are at war once again. The story of how Humans and Dinosaurs were now shedding each other’s blood after living in peace for so long broke Shira’s heart. She wished things were different. It was because of the threat of Predatory Dinosaurs living in the jungles that surrounded her village, that Shira’s father never allowed her to wander into the forest on her own. Shira had never seen a Dinosaur before. -At least one that wasn’t brought back to the village, dead. Her father never told her what kinds of Dinosaurs lived beyond the boundaries of her village refuge. So badly did she want to venture out into the world and see all the strange and wonderful creatures that inhabited her primeval world. But she knew that in disobeying her father would result in a whooping. -And her father had a strong hand. So, she simply did as her father said, and remained in the village, and played with the other children to take her mind off of Dinosaurs. ----- It was the darkest hour of night, when Shira woke up to the sounds of the battle-cries of warriors, and the frantic screaming of women and children. Shira was still safe in her hut, but when she looked over her shoulder, her father wasn’t there with her. Shira arose from her bed and darted outside the secluded safety of her hut to find chaos in all directions about her. The warrior tribesmen were in a frenzied battle rage, and the mothers clutched their children in the arms, fleeing from a perpetrator that Shira had yet to behold. She followed the direction of the charging warriors, only to be halted in her pursuit by a nightmarish roar; this scream of a monstrous predator that chilled her to the bone. The sound of giant thundering feet came nearer to Shira’s position, who was now parallelized with terror. Through the gap between the huts, Shira could make out the shape of a great beast thundering towards her with terrific speed. Her heart sank into her stomach as she awaited her oncoming doom, only to be shoved aside by the great bulk of her father. The impact of her father’s arm struck against Shira’s temple, flinging her off her feet and causing her to cave in a ruined hut, leaving her unconscious, sparing the poor girl the sight of the gruesome fate that became of her father. ----- Shira awoke to dead silence. Still hidden underneath the rubbish of the caved-in hut, she could not remember the events that had just unfolded. Her memory was blurred, and her head was hurting. After a moment, Shira recognized her position, and crawled out from her sanctum into a dead and ruined village. Scattered everywhere, were mangled and dismembered bodies of Cycanian Neanderthals. Warriors, women, and even children. Among the dead, Shira observed the huge, three-toed footprints embedded in the earth, and alongside them, was a trail of blood. Shira tread with caution, as she followed the tracks and blood-trail. Shira’s heart pounded faster with every step, as the blood-trail became more and more expansive, turning from drops into splatters. Shira lifted her gaze up from the ground to see a familiar body, laying on the ground, just 40 feet away from her. Shira gasped as she darted forward. Her heart shattered as she laid her horrified eyes on the dead and torn body of her father. Shira fell to her knees at her father’s side. Tears poured from her eyes, as she rested her head on her father’s bloodied chest, and cried. She wept like she never had before. The pain at the loss of her beloved papa was unbearable. She sobbed so hard that she choked in between, barley catching her breathe. The poor child was so focused on her father, that she almost failed to notice the presence of a large creature creeping up behind her. Shira ceased her cries, as she heard the deep, and rumbling raspy breathing at her back. She turned to see a huge, and hideous predatory Dinosaur looking down at her with one blazing red eye, and one dead-silver eye, decorated with a massive scar running down the side of the animal’s face. It’s toothy mouth was smeared with blood, as it’s long, reptilian tongue licked it’s long, sabre-like fangs. The monster was a pale white, with the top of it’s head (and huge bull-like horns on each side) a reddish-violet. Shira stared in horror as the Dinosaur’s lips formed a sinister grin and slowly began opening it’s massive maw, emitting a blood-curdling hiss. Shira screamed as if her heart was going to burst out through her throat and made a mad dash for the trees of the Conifer Barrens. ----- Delphina: The mother Demityrannus, was making her way back to her nest after another successful hunt, with a belly full of Hadrosaur meat to take back home to her offspring, before she and her mate could go back out, having the rest of the kill for themselves. That’s when she heard it. A distant, yet sharp sound. -The sound of screaming distress. It was that of a human child, but to Delphina, she could easily understand it. There was a defenceless youngster out there, and it needed the protection of an adult. Delphina’s maternal instincts kicked into overdrive. She abandoned her original purpose, and set herself on a new mission to find and protect this human child. Delphina sprinted through the forest with great speed, covering great distance. The further and further she delved into the trees, the screams of the child became greater. And alongside them, came the roars of an all-too familiar nemesis. It was Sabre White-jaw: The great Man-Eating Carnotaur. Yes, he was out on his sick and sadistic venture again. The one of killing humans for shear pleasure rather than food. Now he was after a child. The fact of this fuelled Delphina’s adrenaline tenfold. She snorted and roared with rage and ran harder head-long into the jungle, as her beautiful emerald eyes turned to scorching fire. ------ The girl Shira ran madly and blind through the forest, -through the dimly-lit wood, barely seeing the ferns and elephant-ear leaves slapping against her face as she ran. Her heart pounded in her chest as loud and defining as the thundering footsteps of the great Carnotaur, closing in behind her. Shira dared not look over her shoulder. She kept her red and teary eyes ahead of her as she continued onward, as fast as her legs could propel her. Her breast was burning from the frantic panting she emitted and her throat was bone-dry. Between gasps and pants, she coughed and gagged. There was so much foliage in her face, that Shira failed to notice a slight drop in the forest floor until it was too late. She tumbled down into a crevice, rolling over on her head and shoulders until she stopped, laying on her side. Shira tried to rise, but the shearing pain in her ankle brought her back down to her hands and knees. She had sprained her ankle. Shira’s face turned pale as she witnessed the great white Dinosaur come into her view over the ledge of which she had just fallen. The monster’s red eye glared at the child with menacing glee. Having his prey within his grasp, with nowhere to run, the Carnotaur crouched on his massive and powerful hind-legs, his great talons gripping the ledge. Shira stared up in terror at the inevitable death before her. The same fate that had befallen her people, in becoming food for a creature that seemed to take pleasure in the killing of humans. Shira turned her eyes away from the Dinosaur, covering her head with her arms, and letting out one last desperate scream for help, as the Carnotaur bounded forward with jaws agape. -Only to be met in mid-air by the Mother Delphina, who caught the evil carnivore’s throat in her jaws as she leapt from the undergrowth. The forceful impact of the Demityrannus sent Sabre White-Jaw crashing to the ground. -His throat still clutched in Delphina’s jaws. Delphina thrashed Sabre around on the ground ferociously before lifting him off the forest floor and tossing him aside. Shira looked up to behold to her amazement the great violet-shaded Theropod that had come to her rescue. Sabre white-Jaw had regained his footing, shaking his head and bloodied neck. Delphina put herself between Sabre facing her, and Shira behind her. Though Sabre was a Titanmorph Carnotaur, as large as a Tyrannosaurus, Delphina was bigger, roughly between the size of a Giganotosaurus and Mapusaurus, though she was not of the Carcharodontosaurid branch. The two combating carnivores stared each other down, as Shira watched on, never uttering as sound as her anticipation prevented her from uttering a single breathe. Then, a speech came from her protector’s broad mouth that made Shira gasp. “This is not your land, Man-Eater. You are trespassing.” Delphina hissed angrily. “I hunt wherever I wish, female.” Sabre retorted back with a smug confidence. “You have no claim on anything, Nomad. You hold no rights to hunt in these forests. These are Demityrannai lands. These are our hunting grounds. If you wish to continue your killing-spree here, you will have to best our Alpha in combat. That is the law. -That is if you’re brave enough to face him...” At the mention of the Demityrannai Alpha, Sabre White-Jaw shrugged and stepped back in fear. As big and powerful as he was, he knew that he would stand no chance against the Alpha, or even a female as Delphina. Admitting his defeat, Sabre snorted with frustration and backed down, fleeing into the forest. At the retreat of her adversary, Delphina turned her attention to the little human girl, quivering behind her. Despite being two worlds apart, Delphina felt pity for the child, and her only thought was to care for her. Delphina lowered her face to Shira’s eye-level as she turned her massive bulk to face her. Shira’s lips quivered as she sniffled. “Hey, little kit. Are you okay?” Delphina asked. “Please, don’t eat me!”, Shira sobbed. She shut her eyes and cried. Delphina nuzzled her gently with the tip of her snout, purring deeply but softly. Shira began to feel an ease in her fear, knowing that this she-beast could well understand her, just as she could understand the words of the great beast of prey that had just saved her life. “Don’t be afraid, little one. I won’t eat you. I’m going to take care of you.” Delphin picked Shira up gently in her great jaws, as a mother lioness would do with her cub, and lumbered off into the depths of the forest, with the child clutched in her mouth. Shira felt no more terror after this. For her, it was as if she were in the warm arms of the mother she never had. Shira felt safe. She let herself sink into the embrace of Delphina’s scaly lips around her person, and in turn, embraced her saviour. ------- It was dusk, and the last golden orange rays of the setting sun seeped through the trees, casting shadows. Shira opened her eyes, upon realizing that she had dozed off in a sleep while still being carried in Delphina’s jaws. Delphina was approaching the upward slope of a trail embedded in the side of a cliff of black, volcanic rock. Shira’s midnight-blue eyes looked on as Delphina ascended up the trail, still carrying her. Up and up they went, and just rounding a bend, when Delphina was met by another member of her species: her mate, Cerbaero. The large male Dinosaur approached Delphina to welcome her back to their home when he laid his great golden eyes upon the human child that his mate was holding in her mouth. Cerbaero cocked his head, confused for a moment. “This isn’t-?” Cebaero was about to ask if this human was food for their offspring, when Delphina shook her head ‘no’. “I saved her from the Man-Eater. She knows our speech. She has no one to take care of her...” Cerbaero paused, and then shifted his gaze down at Shira, and his heart became overwhelmed with pity. “Bring her to the nest.” Delphina followed Cerbaero around the bend, and into a cave in the side of the black cliff. The cave was shallow, but deep enough to house a whole clan of Shira’s kind. From within the depths of the cavern came three young Dinosaurs, chattering eagerly for whatever food that their mother had brought them. “Sons! Settle down!”Cerbaero boomed in command, and the three youngsters ceased their excitement. Then Cerbaero spoke again, this time in a softer tone, “Your mother has brought someone for you to meet.” Delphina approached, and rested Shira down on the cave floor before the three brother Dinosaurs. The three sons eyed Shira was immense curiosity. Goliath, the Black, was the first to approach. He sniffed Shira’s face, then hair, and finally, the reptile-hide garment that adorned her person. “Mother, what’s this?” Delphina had just realized that she had not even asked the child’d name yet. “-Yes. What is your name, little kit?” Shira was hesitant at first, but finally, she spoke out her name. “...Shira. My name is Shira.” “I’m Goliath.” the black one said, “And these are my brothers: Cerxes (The Bronze), and Allazander (The Silver).” Then Shira gazed up at Delphina speaking, “I am Delphina, and this is my mate, Cerbaero. And you are now one of us. We are your new family, and you are our daughter.” Shira was overwhelmed with joy, but at the same time, she was also confused. “But... Why? Your kind and mine are enemies. Why would you take me in?” “Our pack is not part of that war. We have no quarrel with man, for our first ancestor, the King Tyran was brother-in-arms to the first Emperor of Dinova. And you speak and understand in our tongue, just as we understand you. You are no enemy to us. To us, you are our child.” Delphina said, nuzzling Shira’s cheek. “Goliath, my son. You and your brothers embrace Shira as your sister. Teach her our ways, and make her feel welcome in our pack.” “I will mother.” Delphina and Cerbaero smiled at their children, full of pride, as Goliath and his brothers embraced Shira in a warm group-hug of arms and tails. Delphina then hacked on her throat, regurgitating the meat of the Hadrosaur she had previously killed. At first, Shira shuddered with disgust, before Delphina inched the heap of meat closer to Shira. Shira looked up at Delphina in confusion, as the mother Dinosaur motioned her head, telling her that this was safe to eat. Shira hesitated at first, but slowly crawled her way towards the meat. She took a hunk of flesh in her hand, and slowly bit down on it. To her surprise, it tasted quite good. Shira was accustomed to raw meat, so this stuff was no strange thing to her anymore than her new mother had just thrown it up. Delphina then turned her gaze to the mouth of the cave, peering at the sun setting in the west. “Come Cerbaero. Night is falling. Let us return to our kill before the scavengers of the forest strip it of it’s meat.” Cerbaero looked down, and smiled warmly at Shira before following Delphina out of the cave. ------ Shira awoke, still half-asleep as Goliath nudging her. “Shira, wake up! The moon is at it’s peak. We have to go.” “Go where? It’s nighttime.” “We want to take you someplace special.” Cerxes said over Goliath’s shoulder. “But where?” “Follow us and you’ll see.” Allazander said. Shira steadily arose from her bed of leaves and followed her brothers out of the cave. She noticed that her new parents had not returned yet from their feast. “Won’t mother and father be angry if they find us gone?” “Don’t worry. They know we do this. -Every full moon.” Goliath replied. Shira continued following her brothers down the path, away from the cave. After descending for a good two hundred yards, the brothers broke off into another path that Shira hadn’t notice before, hidden in some ferns. Shira followed, keeping pace with her brother Dinosaurs, were knew well enough not to run too fast ahead of her. Finally, Shira followed them to the opening of a cave leading into a marvellous, glowing grotto, decorated with bio-luminescent fungi and plants. Even the corals and little fish in the pool that centred in the grotto was alive with glowing beauty. “Well, what do you think?” Goliath asked. “It’s like something out of a dream.” “This is our secret hide-out.” Cerxes explained, “We come here every night of the full moon. You see that opening up there?” he pointed to an opening in the ceiling of the cave where the full moon was visible, “When the moonlight shines through, the whole cave glows up.” Shira’s eyes teared up with joy, and she turned to her brothers. “Thank you. This is the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for me.” “Well, mother and father told us to make you feel welcome,” Allanzander said, including himself, “And Goliath thought that bringing you here was the best way to do that.” Shira looked at Goliath with happy tears running down her face, and she hugged him. Goliath embraced her back with his big, strong arms. “Welcome to our family, little sister.”

A photograph should go under Digital Art2, unless it's an outfit or an accessory, then it should go under Costumes and Crafts.
